1982 ASTON MARTIN LAGONDA - £POA

The Aston Martin V8 Lagonda is a luxury sports sedan produced by the British manufacturer Aston Martin. The 1982 model, commonly referred to as the Series 2, represents one of the later iterations of the Lagonda line. Here's a brief overview of the history and story behind the Aston Martin V8 Lagonda 1982: Background: Lagonda Brand: Lagonda is an old British luxury car brand that was acquired by Aston Martin in 1947. The Lagonda brand was known for its innovative engineering and luxurious designs. Introduction of the Aston Martin Lagonda: The Lagonda name was revived by Aston Martin in the 1970s with the introduction of the Aston Martin Lagonda. The Lagonda was positioned as a luxury sedan, featuring avant-garde styling and cutting-edge technology. Aston Martin V8 Lagonda 1982 (Series 2): Design: Series 2, introduced in 1982, retained the iconic wedge-shaped design that was a hallmark of the Lagonda line. The exterior featured sharp lines, pop-up headlights, and a distinctive grille. Interior: The interior of the V8 Lagonda was opulent, with luxurious materials and advanced electronic features for its time. The dashboard was a prominent feature, housing a digital instrument panel, a revolutionary concept in the early 1980s. Technology: The 1982 Lagonda was equipped with advanced electronic systems, including a digital dashboard, touch-sensitive controls, and a computerized engine management system. While these features were innovative, they also contributed to the car's complexity and maintenance challenges. Performance: Powering the V8 Lagonda was a 5.3-liter V8 engine, delivering respectable performance. Despite its performance capabilities, the Lagonda was primarily designed as a luxury GT car rather than a pure sports sedan. Limited Production: Production numbers for the V8 Lagonda Series 3 were limited, making it a rare and collectible model. Challenges: The ambitious use of advanced technology in the Lagonda, especially the early digital systems, led to reliability issues. The complex electronics and the challenges associated with maintaining them contributed to a mixed reputation for the car. Legacy: The V8 Lagonda is remembered as an avant-garde and luxurious vehicle that pushed the boundaries of automotive design and technology. While it faced challenges during its production, the Lagonda has gained a unique status and is appreciated by collectors for its rarity and distinctive design. In summary, the Aston Martin V8 Lagonda 1982 (Series 2) represents a unique chapter in the history of luxury sedans, showcasing both the innovative spirit of its time and the challenges associated with pioneering advanced automotive technology.
