1956 BENTLEY S1 - £26,850
This nearly 70-year-old Bentley is very usable in modern traffic and a delight to drive. Last of the hand-built Bentley’s with a proper chassis and the rugged 6-cylinder engine, the S1 stands out from the crowd as only 3538 were built. The car has a hand-written service and maintenance record with many receipts from a mileage of 26k miles to its present value of 77k. This includes a respray (from green to its present shell grey and black) in 1981, engine rebuild in 1988 and complete reupholstery in soft green leather in 2000. Since then, it has hardly been used with the last full service only 1000 miles back. Chrome, interior, engine, brakes and auxiliary items are all excellent. The underneath is robust and tidy with only a little surface rust on exposed parts. The coachwork and wheels are fine for everyday use with the mellow patina and wear appropriate for an old Bentley, but would need a blow-over spray to win shows.
