The charming Fiat 500 is not just a joy to own but also to work on and enjoy. With little to go wrong, the two-cylinder, air-cooled engine redefined the term 'small car' and takes that often beleaguered term of 'city-car' to a fresh new level. With a black fabric sunroof, this Fiat 500 catches admiring looks wherever she goes and is regularly used by the vendor for trips into central London. This late 1972 example (imported into the UK in 2018) and subject to a complete restoration including repainting in this elegant pale blue (although some age-related cracks have now appeared as well as some bonnet rust). Inside, it benefits from a fully customised and hand-stitched interior with pale blue accents, new Fiat floor mats and fittings, while outside is fitted with new chromework, bumpers, headlight surrounds and a (not so easy to find) new front badge. Finally, the car was fitted with period-correct Cromodora-style wheels, chrome hub caps and 145/70R12 Hankook tyres all with decent tread. It has recently been subject to a service with several significant components replaced. Complete with invoices and a V5C registration document, the car will be driven to the sale and certainly captures the essence of classic Mediterranean motoring combining compact size, charming design and a spirited driving experience.
