Believed to have been restored in 1986 by MG specialist John Hills of Redditch, the car carries an under-bonnet plaque designating it as a “John Hills Special Limited Edition”. While the exact specification of the special edition is undocumented, this example benefits from a number of carefully chosen upgrades. It has been fitted with a later all-synchromesh gearbox and LH-Type overdrive unit, offering smoother shifting and improved long-distance usability compared to the original setup. Further enhancements include Lumenition electronic ignition, an electric cooling fan, and a stainless steel exhaust system. More recently, the car is believed to have been fitted with an MGOC power steering kit, making it notably easier to handle at low speeds.
