SUNBEAM ALPINE SERIES IV GT - £Auction
This Sunbeam Alpine GT is understood to have received a sympathetic restoration at some stage, as well as a more recent respray in its original shade of Carnival Red. The first owner held onto it until 2018, and remains the only former keeper. The car is now part of the deceased estate of the second keeper, who remains on the V5C.The original sales invoice reveals that ERP 386C was sold for £394 on 17th June 1966 by Arthur Mulliner Ltd, a Rootes dealer in Northampton. A separate invoice shows that they also installed an ammeter and gear lever lock for £12 5s, and another shows that they gave the car its first service at 651 miles a month later. Also present is the original buff logbook, handbook and warranty booklet, all nicely preserved. The service book records the car's first 3 services up to 15k miles in 1967.Within the last 50 miles the car has received an oil & filter change, a new stainless exhaust, and a new Weber carburettor to replace the original Solex (which is in the boot). The car is fitted with a GT hardtop, and has an overdrive gearbox. The latter is not currently engaging, although the vendor advises that the solenoid does click in and out. The fuel gauge is also not working.The history file contains maintenance receipts from 2019 on. Old V5s and MoT certificates are also present, together the latest V5C.
